Choeng Mon is one of those beaches that rewards slowing down. A visitor who arrives, looks at the sea for thirty seconds, and concludes there is nothing to do has missed the entire point. At this hour the beach is warm but not yet at peak heat, the sea is calm and clear, and the early morning swimmers have typically cleared out. Parking on the road behind the beach is available and free. The walk from the road to the sand is under two minutes from most points.

Set up on a sunbed or under a beach umbrella — The Blue Spice provides these for guests dining from the menu, so a first order of fresh coconuts or fruit juice establishes your spot. The morning hours between 9:30am and noon are the best for clear, calm water swimming. The sea temperature at Choeng Mon is typically 27–29°C in the dry season, which is comfortable for extended swimming without a wetsuit.

If you brought snorkelling gear, the rocky headland at the western end of the beach is worth exploring in the morning when the sun angle means good visibility in the shallow water. Sunscreen rated SPF 50 is the minimum recommendation for a full day at Choeng Mon Beach.
